Change of Forename
Regulations
- Names must not resemble, or be intended to resemble, the name of the King, Queen or royal titles.
- Names must have meaning in the Thai language must not be vulgar.
Required Documents
- House Registration Certificate.
- Identification Card.
- Alien Registration Card (applicable for aliens).
Procedures
- A request is filed with the local Registrar where the House Registration Certificate is registered.
- The Registrar will review the documents for accuracy before issuing a Change of Forename Certificate to the applicant as evidence. A service fee of 25 baht is required.
- If the applicant is an alien, the Registrar will issue a Change of Forename Certificate to the person as evidence, which shall be used as a supporting document for changing his/her citizenship to Thai citizenship. When the change in citizenship is complete, the Registrar will issue a Change of Forename and Middle Name Certificate to the applicant as evidence. A service fee of 25 baht is required.
